Rams’ Cooper Kupp Hilariously Roasts QB Matthew Stafford
Nathan Ray Seebeck-USA TODAY Sports

The Los Angeles Rams have plenty of new faces on their roster heading into the 2023 season. This offseason was a rough one when it comes to defections as a ton of key contributors on both sides of the ball departed in free agency, or were traded or released by the team.

There aren’t many recognizable names on the defensive side of the ball, but there are a few on offense. Quarterback Matthew Stafford and wide receiver Cooper Kupp both remain in the fold as the leaders on that side of the ball.

How much longer they are teammates on the Rams together is anyone’s guess. There were some rumors earlier this offseason that Stafford was contemplating retirement after finishing the 2022 campaign on IR. Now 35 years old, it isn’t the most shocking news that Stafford is thinking about life after football.

Given who the Rams selected in the fourth round of the 2023 NFL Draft, they are thinking about and preparing for life after Stafford as well. With the No. 128 overall pick, the Rams selected Georgia quarterback Stetson Bennett.

It was a selection that surprised some people given Bennett’s age and measurables but there is no denying the production and success that he had with the Bulldogs. He helped lead them to the College Football Championship the last two seasons in one of the most dominant runs we have ever seen in college football.

Like Bennett, Stafford also played collegiately at Georgia before being drafted No. 1 overall by the Detroit Lions in 2009. Kupp took that as an opportunity to poke some fun at his teammate while offering praise to Bennett.

“He’s definitely the most athletic quarterback from Georgia that we’ve got on our team,” Kupp told reporters, via NFL Network’s Andrew Siciliano. (H/T MSN)

While neither Stafford nor Bennett are known for their athleticism, Kupp is probably correct in his assessment. Bennet showcased some rushing ability the last two seasons with the Bulldogs, rushing for at least 200 yards each season and scoring 10 touchdowns this past year.
