© Dale Zanine-USA TODAY Sports

The Saskatchewan Roughriders are attacking both sides of the ball in free agency. On Tuesday, the team inked former NFL defensive back Marcus Murphy and former NFL offensive tackle Jonathan Hubbard to contracts.

Murphy played in the XFL last year with the Orlando Guardians, producing 25 tackles, two pass deflections and one interception on the season. He previously spent time in the NFL with the Atlanta Falcons after signing with the team as an undrafted free agent in 2021.

In college, Murphy appeared in 22 games for the Mississippi State Bulldogs and racked up 66 tackles, three tackles for loss, two interceptions and five pass deflections.

Hubbard was last in the NFL with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers starting in 2021 through training camp of 2022. His pro career began with the Miami Dolphins' practice squad following the 2020 NFL Draft.

He spent five seasons with Northwestern State, starting in 27 games, including 11 of them in his 2019 senior season. His contributions helped the offense break several school records, including pass records in back-to-back years.

These two signings bring the total to 10 players who have been locked in on contracts with the Riders. The team has lost six players to free agency.
