In the midst of a busy offseason for the Montreal Alouettes, the club kicked off the CFL free agency period by signing two players to contracts. Former Calgary Stampeders defensive lineman Derek Wiggan and former Hamilton Tiger-Cats running back Sean Thomas Erlington agreed to terms with the Als.

Wiggan is a long-time veteran of the CFL who has played his entire career for the Stamps after being selected in the fourth round of the CFL Draft. The best season of his CFL career came in 2019, when he produced career highs in total tackles (37) and sacks (4). He also won a Grey Cup with the team in 2018.

He finished the 2023 season with 16 tackles and four sacks while appearing in 18 games last year.

After going to school in Montreal, Erlington returns home following six seasons with the Tiger-Cats. He was selected by Hamilton in the eighth round of the 2017 CFL Draft and has rushed for 1,170 yards and six scores in 65 games.

The Als also announced the additions of Isaac Adeyemi-Berglund and Tevin Jones, with both signings being previously reported last week. Tuesday was the first day CFL players can officially sign with teams.
